Throughline

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-09-13 (version 1.1)
Applies to: Throughline, the staff workspace provided by Ctrl+Logic LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("Ctrl+Logic," "we," "our").

Throughline helps authorized school-district staff review student-support information and record the support actions they take. It is provided to districts for staff use, not as a consumer product. Under a district's agreement with Ctrl+Logic, district records are held in the district's own Google Workspace environment.

1. Personal activity and device storage

Throughline does not collect, read, or transmit your browsing history, the content of web pages you visit, your bookmarks, your location, or your personal files. It has no analytics, trackers, or advertising. Its fonts and styles are included with the product and are not requested from external font or styling services.

Apart from copies you deliberately create as described in section 2, Throughline's only persistent storage on your device is a single on/off setting for demonstration mode. That setting contains no personal information. Student records are held in memory while the workspace is open and are requested fresh each time.

2. Information Throughline processes

Throughline retrieves student-support records, including attendance, coursework, graduation progress, discipline, and support information, from its designated data service. Under a district's agreement with Ctrl+Logic, that service holds the records in the district's own Google Workspace environment. Before district deployment, the separate evaluation environment operated by Ctrl+Logic contains only synthetic, fictional records, identified as such on every screen.

Records are used to show authorized staff the information needed for student-support work. Throughline does not automatically make copies elsewhere. Communication with the designated data service uses HTTPS.

Copies you choose to make. Some tables offer Print / PDF and Download numbers. When you select one of these, Throughline prepares a printable page or spreadsheet file on your own device containing the records shown at that moment. Throughline does not send that copy anywhere, keep a second copy, or record its contents. Handle copies under your district's records rules.

Actions you record. A recorded support action includes which staff account recorded it and which student it concerns. It is saved to the same designated data service, with a history that allows the district to audit who recorded what and when and detect later alteration. Existing action records are retained rather than overwritten.

3. Student data stays under district control

Student records displayed in Throughline are education records governed by the district's agreements with Ctrl+Logic (a memorandum of understanding and a student data privacy agreement consistent with FERPA and Washington law, under which Ctrl+Logic acts at the district's direction as a school official with a legitimate educational interest). The data itself resides in the district's own Google Workspace environment. Ctrl+Logic does not sell student data, does not use it for advertising or marketing, does not build profiles for any purpose other than the product's stated function, and does not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

The district's student information system remains the system of record. Throughline uses information supplied by the district; it does not access that system directly or change its records.

4. Sharing and access

We do not sell or rent data. Access is limited to district-authorized staff and, where strictly necessary and permitted by the district's agreements, Ctrl+Logic personnel providing support at the district's request. We do not share information with other parties except for the staff-directed use of external services described in section 6 or disclosures required by law. If disclosure is legally required, we notify the district unless prohibited.

5. Retention and deletion

Records live in the district's environment and are retained under the district's agreement and records schedule, not ours. At the end of an agreement, or on the district's request, Ctrl+Logic returns or securely deletes any district data in its possession, including backups on a documented schedule, and certifies deletion in writing.

6. Optional connections to other services

Some Throughline screens let you open Gmail or Google Calendar to continue your work. These services open only when you choose the corresponding action. Opening a draft can pass its prepared details to the selected service so you can review them there. Sending an email, saving an event, or taking another action in that service remains your choice. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies and your district's rules.

7. Security

Throughline communicates with its designated data service over HTTPS and limits access to authorized staff. It requests only the access needed to provide its functions and does not load remote executable code. Recorded actions include checks that allow alteration to be detected. These records are tamper-evident, not tamper-proof.

8. Children

Throughline's users are school-district staff. Throughline is not directed at children and does not collect information directly from children. Student records displayed to staff are provided by the district under the agreements described in section 3.

9. Where district agreements are stricter

If your district's memorandum of understanding or data privacy agreement with Ctrl+Logic imposes stricter requirements than this policy, those agreements govern.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will change and the current version will always be available at this address. Material changes affecting a district will be communicated to that district directly.
